Translation related information

Basic fee

Our basic translation fee is £48.00 or £0.08 per word—whichever is higher—for plain text and certified translation formats. The standard turnaround time is 5 working days. These prices exclude the 20% VAT.

For MKIFK-attested translations, our base fee is £114.00 + VAT.

An MKIFK-attested translation provides a higher level of certification. It involves the preparation and handling of physical documents—both the originals and the certified translation—which are issued in Hungary. Therefore, additional costs such as international postage, handling, and administrative fees apply.

Urgency surcharge

In the case of certified translations, our urgency surcharge is +25% for 2-working day translations and +50% for next day translations.

With MKIFK attested translations, the urgency surcharge is +30%.

Also important

The prices on this page are indicative and do not constitute an offer. All translation work will be quoted individually by email after you have uploaded your documents via our website.

All prices are in British pounds (GBP) and exclude the 20% VAT.

Translation deadlines are calculated from the date our office receives both the documents and the translation fee.

Plain text and certified translations

– within 5 working days (standard). We can meet this deadline with documents no longer than 10 000 words. For longer documents, we will also provide you with an individual quote for the translation deadline.

– within 2 working days (urgent), +25% surcharge, up to 2000 words.

– within 24-hours (next day), +50% surcharge, up to 1000 words.

In each case we will give you an individual price quote.

MKIFK (Hungarian Gazette Publishing and Legal Translation Centre LTD) translation

The turnaround time for MKIFK translations is about 3 – 4 weeks. We cannot provide an exact deadline, but can only estimate the time this’ll take, as courier delivery times may vary.

Plain text and certified translations

For plain text and certified translations, you can submit an electronic copy of the documents via our website. There is no need to send the originals by post.

MKIFK attested translations

For attested translations issued by MKIFK (Hungarian Gazette Publishing and Legal Translation Centre Ltd.), we require the original documents. These must be sent to our address in the United Kingdom. Detailed instructions on how to send them will be provided via email after you request a quote on our website.

Name-usage documents

MKIFK requires name-usage documents written in Latin (printed) characters for the translation. Electronic copies of such documents are sufficient; we do not need the originals. These may include copies of a passport, driving licence, or identity card.

If a person’s name on the document is handwritten or written in a language not using Latin characters, we will need name-usage documents to verify how their name should be written officially.

However, if you are unable to obtain such a document for someone, please provide a written statement as follows:

First name:
Surname:
I attest that this is how the person has used their name officially.
[Your name]

Submission information

  • Submitting Images:
If submitting documents as images, ensure they are high-resolution scans or photos. All fine print must be legible, the text must not be blurry, and the entire document must be visible without edges being cut off.

  • File format uploads:
If the material to be translated is in a file format (e.g., PDF or DOC), simply upload it through the website.

  • Translation quote request form:
Complete the Translation Quote Request Form to provide important details about the translation and upload your documents directly from your device. You can upload multiple files simultaneously — there’s no need to send them individually.

  • Technical issues:
If you experience difficulties uploading documents or encounter technical issues, please contact us via the Contact page for assistance.

Plain text and certified translations

For plain text and certified translations, you can choose how to receive the translated documents:

  • Electronically: As a PDF via email.
  • By Post: Tracked delivery within the UK, or equivalent services for international destinations.

MKIFK attested translations

For MKIFK attested translations, the original documents you provide are retained at our UK office. We create certified copies, which are attached to the translations. The originals remain intact and are returned to you along with the translations.

  • For UK residents: Your original documents and translated copies will be delivered via Royal Mail.
  • For international customers: We use a reliable courier service to ensure safe and timely delivery.

Once you have uploaded electronic copies of the documents to be translated via our website, we will send you a price quote by email, including payment details.

You can pay the translation fee via bank transfer or PayPal. Your order will be confirmed once the translation fee is received in our account.

Translation deadlines are calculated from the time the payment is credited to our bank account and the documents have been received.

Certified translations

In the United Kingdom, a certified translation can be provided by a qualified translator or a translation agency employing staff with the appropriate qualifications.

To certify the translation, a declaration must be included stating that the translation is a true and accurate representation of the original document. This declaration should typically include the name and address of the translator or agency and must be signed by the person responsible for the translation.

You can find the requirements for certified translations on the British Government’s website.

All certified translations produced by Bonaventura Language Services comply with UK standards.

MKIFK attested translations

According to Section 5 of MT Decree 24/1986 (26.VI.1986), only the Hungarian Gazette Publishing and Legal Translation Centre Ltd. (MKIFK) may produce attested translations in Hungary.

Attested translations are translations certified by an authorised body as being in conformity with the original text by means of a declaration of authenticity. You can find detailed information on attested translations on the MKIFK website.

You can order an attested translation from Bonaventura Language Services in the United Kingdom as we are the partner office of MKIFK.
